Berwick Photographic Society meets in the Abbey Church Hall
in Church Road, North Berwick, East Lothian. Meetings
are every second Thursday from September to April. The club also
has a varied range of outings from May to September.
We visit Midlothian Camera Club for a match-an-image on 20-Nov
and on 22-Nov we host Haddington Camera Club for a 20-images-each
competition, being judged by Neil Scott, with the topic "Framed".
Our annual Chairman's Trophy, held on 8-Nov, was judged
on the evening by Gordon Scott from Mid Calder Camera Club. With
the topic of Reflections in Water, Ian McDougall won the
trophy with "Old Pier, Kenmore", Joyce Hunnam's
"Swanning About" was second and Val Stuart's
"Douglas Loch" a close third.
On 11th October Stephen Ball judged our members' assignment "Round
Things". On 25th October Dougie Cunningham gave his talk
"Photographing Scotland", a five-year 'journey'
covering the whole of Scotland and capturing superb photographs
for his recently-published book of the same title.
Billy Currie gave a superb talk "Is getting it right enough?
The truth, lies and myths of photography" at our 27th September
meeting. On 13th September we enjoyed a Cheese & Wine when
members also showed their summer holiday images.
Our Match-an-Image Challenge Trophy competition at home
against Biggar Camera Club was postponed, due to heavy snow,
until 26th April when Biggar won by a single point. Congratulations
to Maggi Doak who won our 2017/18 Image-of-the-Year competition
with "Butterfly Girl". Val Stuart was
second and third with "Hare" and "Fisherman
We welcomed back Duncan McEwan to give us another of his excellent
talks, this time "Glorious Glasgow".
Club member Alastair White gave a comprehensive talk on
talking and creating "Panoramas". In a Still
Life assignment, with members' choice judging, Chick Calder
came in first and second and Ian McDougall was third.
